This look was invented in 1983 to support hyper-femininity of the 1970s. It was made iconic by Madonna, who wore them for her 1990 tour. These 'cone bras' became a key piece of Jean Paul Gaultier's collections throughout the years.
2. The Marinière - 'La Marinière'

The 'Marinière' was the star of Gaultier's first men's collection. This look has since become to be known as a 'timeless classic' and was inspired by an item from the French designers' own childhood.
3. The Man-Skirt - 'La Jupe Pour Homme'

The 'man-skirt' was created in 1985 as part of the "And God Created Man" collection. The piece was in fact, wide leg trousers with a wrapper panel at the front - resembling a skirt. The design was modelled on hyper-sexualised male models, making them more feminine. The aim of this was to break gendered stereotypes of clothing.
4. 'La Parisienne De Gaultier'

The Parisian woman has been Gaultier's muse ever since he launched his Haute Couture brand in 1982. This look aims to represent independence, rebelliousness and punk-rock. His recent creation 'Scandal', focuses on the Parisian woman's legs and their association with modern femininity.
